At TCMi, we believe that every person has a drummer inside of them just waiting to be unleashed. Whether you find yourself tapping your feet to a rhythm or making beats with any object that makes a sound, we are here to help you discover your inner groove.
Our beginner program is designed to help you get started with a basic 4/4 groove at a tempo that suits you. As the heart and soul of any band, drummers are essential to bringing the music together. They are the "glue" that holds everything in place.
At TCMi, we prioritize a solid foundation in music theory, so you can be confident in your skills as a drummer. We will teach you the basics of rhythm and time signatures, including what a quarter note is, and provide clapping drills to help you perfect your technique. From there, we will guide you on the path to becoming a skilled and groovy drummer.
For more advanced students, we will assess your current playing abilities and work with you to achieve your musical goals. We also have a recording area at our facility, so you can capture your performance and have a memory to share or stream with friends and family.
So whether you're a beginner or an experienced drummer, we welcome you to join us at TCMi and unleash your inner beat!

Drums +
Learning to play the drums offers a unique set of benefits, both musical and personal. Here are five key advantages of learning the drums:
1. Rhythm and Coordination: Drumming is all about rhythm and coordination. By learning the drums, you develop a strong sense of timing, coordination between your hands and feet, and the ability to maintain a steady beat. These skills can transfer to other areas of life, such as sports, dancing, and even daily tasks that require coordination.
2. Physical and Mental Workout: Playing the drums is a physical activity that engages various muscle groups. It provides a cardiovascular workout, improves stamina, and strengthens muscles in your arms, legs, and core. Drumming also stimulates mental agility, as it requires concentration, multitasking, and coordination between different drum elements.
3. Stress Relief and Emotional Expression: Drumming can be an excellent outlet for stress relief and emotional expression. Hitting the drums allows you to release tension, frustration, or pent-up emotions. It offers a cathartic experience and can be a form of therapy. Drumming in a band or with others also fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared energy.
4. Creativity and Musicality: Playing the drums provides an opportunity for creative expression. Drummers have the freedom to experiment with different rhythms, patterns, and fills, adding their unique style to music. Learning the drums can also enhance your overall musicality, as you develop a better understanding of rhythm, dynamics, and how drums interact with other instruments.
5. Social Interaction and Performance Opportunities: Drummers often play in bands or ensembles, which fosters social interaction and collaboration. Being part of a musical group allows you to connect with fellow musicians, share experiences, and develop teamwork skills. Drummers also have the chance to perform live, whether in small gatherings or on big stages, which can boost confidence and provide a thrilling sense of achievement.
Remember, consistent practice and proper technique are crucial for maximizing the benefits of learning the drums. It's also important to protect your hearing by using appropriate hearing protection, such as earplugs, while playing.
